Minor Improvements (Editing)

15/11/2017

The original footage can be seen on the top left and the fixed video is below it. I spent the majority of my editing time doing this because I realised that I did not have any shots with Sua dancing on her own. I wanted to include a scene like this because I thought it was important to emphasise the gradual separation between her and Donia.

To do this, I made several layers to remove Donia and put Sua in the middle as much as possible. Then, I used the crop tool to remove doubles of Sua. Using the 'edge feather' allowed me to make the edges of the cropped footage join seamlessly. It also allowed me to blend the foliage and wire fencing behind Sua.

Minor Improvements (Filming)

I filmed a few more dancing shots to replace the ones in the garden. I decided to make Donia and Sua dance the entire track in front of tennis court fencing because I really like the pattern of the diamond-shaped wire behind them.

Draft 3 of Music Video

Editing

03/11/2017

Editing went smoothly, however, there are a few shots of the music video which are not as perfect as I intended them to be, therefore, I will produce a final draft on Tuesday the 7th November. This will also allow me to consolidate any changes I need to make to the digipack(s) and magazine advert (if any) before I begin the evaluation task for this coursework on Wednesday the 8th.

I feel like my skills in editing have greatly improved since the beginning of A-Level media, so I was able to use Premiere Pro today quite effectively - I finished making the big changes in roughly two hours, therefore I am happy with the amount of editing I did today. I also ensured that the close-ups and extreme close-ups which I filmed as extras were included to conform to the criteria as well as music video conventions.

I did not particularly encounter any problems as such during editing, however, the programme froze without me saving the last edit of one shot so when I restarted it, it was removed without me noticing. Only after having exported it and uploading it to YouTube I realised what I had done, therefore, I will have to revisit this issue in the fourth and final draft.

Filming

I refilmed the following shots today on the 2nd November 2017:
- Dance routine (Sua + Donia) in a long shot
- Lip-synching (Sua)

I also filmed some extra shots, my favourite being a mid shot of Donia dancing, bending down and Sua coming back up to dance. As well as this, I intend to make some of the editing more interesting by including jump cuts, so I filmed a few shots of Sua and Donia waiting for a bus. This will also help reinforce the idea that Donia is leaving Sua behind so the intended narrative has a stronger presence in the music video.

Photoshoot Photos

15/10/2017

During this photoshoot, I took just under 300 pictures- Some were of good, bad and okay quality. I went through 4 stages of selection to reduce the collection to about 30 photos which I will use for my western release digipack and also my Korean release photo book.

1. I reduced the initial list of photos to 125

2. I then reduced this to 98 images.
3. Finally, to roughly 31:
